What’s New at Foothills Brewing?

We’ve invented a unique series that capitalizes on craft beer’s focus on community. Each month we brew a different IPA themed around a need within our community. The name of the beer reflects the need, and we donate a portion of sales to an organization that serves that need. Our first beer in the series was called Domicile, brewed to raise awareness about homelessness and the need for affordable housing.

What’s the best part of being part of the craft brewing community?

“Coopetition” is how the craft beer community sustains and maintains its own success. We are as passionate about #NCbeer as a whole as we are about Foothills beer.

There’s a very small brewery in a very small town here in North Carolina: Innovation Brewing in Sylva. They make amazing IPAs and lagers; their Hoppy Camper is delicious.

What is the most memorable travel destination where you had the opportunity to taste the local beer?

My (new) wife and I just spent our honeymoon in Turks and Caicos. We thought we’d have to give up craft beer for a week, but the main island has a brewery called Turk’s Head. Their Down Da Road IPA is full of Cascade hops and is pretty fantastic.

What do you like to do during your time away from the brewery?

My wife shares both my penchant for craft beer and my sense of travel, so we’ll be spending a lot of time traveling to different breweries. I also became an instant father to four kids, all athletic, so watching football/lacrosse/swimming became part of my weekly hobbies. I managed to put a ponytail in my five year old son’s hair recently. It made my day.
