SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — America’s Craft Beer Week is seven days dedicated to celebrating the creativity of local brewers.
Thousands of breweries across the country raise their glass to American Craft Beer Week.
“It’s our week to show off, it’s our week to really do something where we can say ‘hey we’re here, we’re making some really good beer, get out there, support your local brewery and have a great time, ‘” said Remedy Brewing Company co-owner Matt Hastad.
Remedy Brewing Company toasts the occasion by offering a new beer every day of the week.
“It takes a lot of foresight and a lot of planning from our event coordinators down to our brewers,” Hastad said.
“It’s a big undertaking to try to produce so many beers every day, but it’s something that we can show off what we can do, kind of flex our beer muscles a bit,” said Aaron Nelson, Remedy Event Coordinator.
Remedy is also accepting entries for a can design contest for its SourCopter, a sour IPA due out this fall.
“We basically gave the artists here’s the name, come up with something fun for the label. We still have to set quite a few parameters on this because there’s a very strict code as to what you can and can’t put on alcohol labels, but we’re thrilled because 15 different artists have submitted nominations for it,” Hastad said. .
The winner will be announced on Saturday – Queen Bee Day – a celebration of Remedy’s flagship beer.
“While celebrating the fact that we’re making different variations, different flavors of the queen bee, we’re brewing it with different ingredients to show where we could take the beer in the future if we wanted to,” Hastad said.
“This year we’re actually going to do a Hibiscus Rose, Lemon Lavender, Peach Cobbler, and Shai Tea,” Nelson said. “I’m excited for the Lemon Lavender personally (laughs),” Nelson said.
Closing of a week dedicated to craft beer.
The public is invited to vote for their favorite label on Saturday afternoon. The winner will be announced at 5:00 p.m.
