Spring House Brewing Company and Thistle Finch Distillery Team Up for Citywide Special; here’s where to find it | Food

Peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen: these are all iconic duos. But it’s another deal that’s at the heart of an upcoming Lancaster County bar special: a shot and a beer.

Spring House Brewing Company and Thistle Finch Distillery’s $7 special begins April 1, also known as April Fool’s Day. (But the case is no joke.)

The brewery and distillery have teamed up for a “city-wide” special reminiscent of Philadelphia’s shot-and-a-beer offering, which includes Spring House Brewing Company’s Famous Red Rose Premium Sprenger beer and a shot of Burley Bourbon from Thistle Finch Distillery. Although “town” is in the special’s name, it will be available at more than a dozen bars across Lancaster County.

Sprenger Famous Red Rose Premium beer is a premium traditional light ale, named after the Sprenger Brewery (later to become Excelsior Brewing), which was one of the three largest breweries in Lancaster in the late 1900s. 1800s and early 1900s, according to Scott. Richardson, director of business development at Spring House Brewing Company

“We married the idea of a traditional or old-school premium beer with a tribute to a historic Lancaster brewery,” says Richardson. “It looks like a traditional beer, but it tastes like a craft beer. People want to drink lighter beer. There’s been so much craziness invented in the craft beer industry, that we just want to have something that is for everyone and that is accessible.”

The beer is also available in four-packs at Spring House Brewing Co. premises and wherever Spring House Brewing Company beers are sold.

More than a dozen Lancaster County bars and restaurants are offering the special starting April 1. Richardson says all bars and restaurants interested in participating should contact for more information.
