Meanwhile, Brewing Company in southwest Austin is a popular destination for cold beer, live music and local cuisine. It also features soccer fields, a cedar playing landscape, and a full concert stage on its four acres, which means it has enough space to host a variety of events.

One of these events takes place on July 31. The event is the showcase for Kids in a New Groove (KING) mentors and features the Lara Price Band, Old Mr Young and Town Lake. Admission is free but RSVP is required.

KING’s Music Mentoring Program offers Central Texas youth who have had experience with the child welfare system an engaged one-on-one mentoring relationship through free weekly private music lessons, giving students the opportunity to transform their lives through connection and support.

Another event will take place on July 29 to help support a local firefighter battling cancer.

The Texas Task Force Foundation and Austin Firefighter’s Relief & Outreach Fund are teaming up with Meanwhile to host “Backing Our Brother: An Evening Benefiting Battalion Chief Travis Maher” to raise money for the Fire Department Battalion Chief by Austin Travis Maher.

Maher was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The event will provide support for him and his family. There will be live music from the Evan Charles Band and Harvest Thieves as well as a silent, live raffle and auction. Details here.

Other upcoming events in August include:

  • August 7: Yoga in the Park presented by Hannah Charles. Admission is free for the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The comprehensive one-hour wellness stream is suitable for all levels. The class will be conducted at a steady pace that will allow you to fully connect the breath to the movement, so you can feel the benefits of each pose being present in your body. Please bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.
  • August 21: Market Daze presented by Out Hyped and Side Eye Pie. Admission is free but RSVP is required. The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. and will feature a variety of vendors curated by Out Hyped. You can buy sneakers, vintage, art and handmade products.
  • August 27: Brew Paul’s Drag Show hosted by Eileen Dover. Admission is free but RSVP is required. The event will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will feature an evening of incredible performances. Bring a blanket and make yourself comfortable! Performers will accept cash tips and Venmo and bartenders can smash larger bills if necessary.

Smokin’ Banh Mi offers Banh Mi international fusion cuisine that brings new flavors to Austin, Texas, and many different combinations of proteins and sauces. banh mis, vermicelli bowls, fries and more!

Bésame offers chef’s ice cream prepared daily. Inspired by the dense, creamy, perfectly smooth ice cream consumed straight from homeowners’ machine in Central America, this truck is a mobile factory, pumping out new batches daily.
