Consumer groups sue Treasury Department over mandatory alcohol labeling

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, the Consumer Federation of America, and the National Consumers League filed suit in the United States District Court to compel the United States Department of the Treasury and the Office of Tax and Commerce on the alcohol and tobacco to follow up on a 2003 petition calling for mandatory alcohol labeling that would require the “same basic transparency that consumers expect from food”, i.e. alcohol content , calories and ingredient information, including ingredients that may cause allergic reactions.
