If you’re a carnivore, chances are you’ve been through a period where you’ve just been craving a good burger. I cross them more than most, but burgers are like kids to me – I tend to like them all equally. However, this week’s dish would be a kid you know deep in your heart is probably your favorite.
The Half Moon Bay Burger has been on the menu since the pub opened, so it’s already hot with a head start. For all that flavor, its components are actually quite simple: a lightly toasted brioche bun, a perfectly cooked beef patty, a slice of cream cheese, jalapenos and honey.
There are definitely ingredients in there that might make you think “hmmm”, but I guarantee it’s worth the dip. And resist the urge to wash it down with other condiments — they’re not necessary. The galette is so juicy that you will even forget the idea of adding a condiment that crossed your mind.
The honey almost candied the jalapenos creating the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Cream cheese, which isn’t your standard burger cheese, adds unparalleled creaminess. All of this bouncing off the charred pockets of the galette, you’ll be done eating before you know it.
It comes with a choice of sides, but who are we kidding – we all know the best side to a burger is an infusion. In this case, the beer of choice standing on the same podium is probably the West Coast Haze IPA. Crispy and delicious, it serves as a great Garfunkel to the Simon of the burger.
