As part of its safety awareness mission, the Brewers Association (BA) has added a new lesson to the online brewery safety training.
The new lesson covers grain handling with an emphasis on all aspects of unloading, storing, milling and transferring grain products in the brewery environment. The grain handling course content complements existing lessons that cover the production process common to most breweries.
Online Brewery Safety Training addresses the need for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training in craft brewing. The training focuses on the specific tasks that are performed in a brewery. This task-based approach has the potential to enable employees to understand how to apply the principles of each specific OHS issue and to improve their ability to recognize their ability to recognize hazards in their work tasks.
The course is free and registration is quick and easy, requiring only a name and email. When talking about a course, users can stop and start at any time. Individual lessons can last from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the subject. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate is issued for employee or employer records.
Course content was created by Grand Valley State University in conjunction with the Brewers Association. The BA welcomes your comments regarding existing training and your suggestions for additional topics to be covered in the future. Participants can provide feedback through a feedback portal within each lesson or by contacting the Brewers Association.
