Missouri-based Martin City Brewing Company is crossing the state line again with plans to open a new restaurant and dining facility at Lenexa City Center.

Located at 8802 Renner Road, the future Lenexa site in Martin City is scheduled to open from mid-to-late May.

The new City Center restaurant will be the company’s second location in Johnson County, following its tasting room at Mission Farms in Overland Park.

“We are pleased; we couldn’t be happier,” said Matt Moore, co-founder and CEO. “We’re so excited to bring food and beer to the people of western Johnson County, Lenexa, Shawnee, all up, down, upside down. We’re super excited about the location, too. ”

Moore said opening a restaurant and bar in Lenexa has been in the works for years.

The company had nearly reached a deal in February 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic ended its plans.

“We love Lenexa,” he said. “I grew up less than 10 minutes away. Mission Farms is great, but we wanted a bigger location farther west than that so the northwest side of the subway could at least enjoy it without having to walk all the way down here.

The restaurant will feature an expansive patio as well as private rental space for parties, lunches and corporate events. Moore said he chose the downtown site for its good parking options and high visibility.

He said it was also a good size for the dining room.

“We think we tick all the right boxes there,” Moore added. “Time will tell us.”

Hours of operation for now are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays, with possible later closing times on Friday and Saturday.
