Get to know this role
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for developing people and processes to maintain Sierra Nevada’s quality vision: “Our products and services must exceed people’s expectations. We continually strive to improve the quality and consistency of our products, to focus on innovation and to provide the highest levels of service.” This position directs, plans, executes and directs the daily tasks of Quality Technicians and works cross-functionally inside and outside the brewery to coordinate all activities related to product quality. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role is responsible for prioritizing and delivering quality results.
What will you do
* Train, coach, mentor, support, develop and engage team members to perform at their highest level of ability
* Leads quality and seeks to protect and elevate the brand; coaches and influences others to do the same
* Fosters an environment of continuous improvement through the lens of the Sierra Nevada Vision and Values (Priority to Quality, Integrity, People, Sustainability and Community)
* Responsible for the development, optimization and improvement of analytical methodology, maintenance and development of SOPs, sampling/analysis schedule, calibration and maintenance programs, etc.
* Responsible for supervising the team, including but not limited to: interviewing, hiring and training employees; plan, assign and direct work; assess performance; reward and discipline employees; handle complaints and resolve issues and ensure best safe work practices, safety policies and procedures are implemented
* Demonstrates knowledge of core products and processes to achieve results and anticipates obstacles, taking action to prevent or minimize their impact
* Maintains product quality by adhering to good manufacturing practices, product specifications and quality procedures; provides the brewery with support, training and guidance to ensure quality standards are met
* Relentlessly focuses on internal customer service (brewing, packaging, etc.) and understands how to create value from the customer’s perspective to drive quality
* Ensures the quality department provides reliable and impactful data by establishing superior maintenance and calibration of equipment/instrumentation, accurate and precise training/documentation, rigor and routine for technician testing and l data review, and appropriate escalation
* Tactfully organizes “behind the scenes” work such as: supply sourcing, budgeting, staffing schedules, specifications database management, SPC charts and actions
Please apply if you have
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a scientific, analytical or food-related discipline required or
* any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired
* 3 years of production laboratory experience required and
* Preferred preferred brewing experience and
* 1 year of supervisory and/or management experience required
* Ability to learn, perform and train in the fundamental requirements of the Quality Technician job
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Organized and able to develop process control systems and routines
* A strong team perspective that puts team and brewery needs above personal needs; acts as the ultimate quality coach
* Ability to get work done by others while working independently on other projects
* Successfully manages, leads or coaches the team through multiple quality assurance and production projects
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to represent SNBCo. at the industry level with the highest level of integrity and professionalism
* Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices
