Treehouse Brewing Company, one of Massachusetts’ most popular breweries, announced Friday that it is buying Tewksbury Country Club and turning it into a brewery while continuing to operate the golf course and various other amenities.
This will be the brewery’s first location in Greater Boston.
“Tree House Brewing Company is buying Tewksbury Country Club from Marc Ginsburg and his family,” the company said in a statement posted on its website. “Getting to know Marc and his team, and learning about the history of the Club, it was clear that they share the same passion for beautiful experiences and the meticulous attention to detail that we bring. We will carry on their legacy with the full of the vigor and enthusiasm of Tree House Brewing Company.”
“We will transform the space into a large and welcoming brewery and retail store and continue to operate the golf course and various amenities with the full force of our team behind it.”
The company says it plans to hire 30-50 employees to start with, with additional opportunities likely in the future.
Tree House Brewing’s original site opened in Charlton in 2011, but high demand has seen them open additional facilities in Sandwich and Deerfield in recent years.
The owners of Tewksbury Country Club had announced on Facebook that they had decided to sell the venue.
What will happen to weddings booked at Tewksbury Country Club?
It’s a hard pill for many to swallow, especially for many couples hoping to get married at the popular wedding venue. They are still holding events scheduled through 2022, but all functions after the New Year are cancelled.
People who have booked the site for weddings will need to quickly find new accommodations.
Ginsburg told NBC10 Boston that all brides who have previously booked events will be refunded and will receive an additional $1,000 due to the inconvenience.
“It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that after 25 wonderful years we have made the very difficult decision to sell Tewksbury Country Club,” the owner said in a statement. “As you can imagine, it wasn’t an easy decision, but we think it’s good for our family at this time.”
