Ten55 Brewing Company leaves its downtown location

“It’s both exciting and bittersweet.”

The local brewery that started brewing 10 years ago and then opened its downtown location in 2018 is moving out of space at 110 E. Congress St.

This summer, Ten55 Brewery will move to another building located downtown, with plans to open towards the end of the season. The move begins Wednesday, June 1, which means the last day to enjoy a cold beer downtown is Sunday, May 29.

“We’re going to need a bigger boat”

Throughout the pandemic, Chris Squires, managing partner of Ten55 Brewing Company, merged with the distribution side of things. It was a smart move, but the downtown brewery outgrew the space.

So, to offer its beer to as many people as possible and meet the demand for distribution, a larger building is under construction.

“We’re going to be closed for most of the summer while we build the new space,” Squires said. “It’s both exciting and bittersweet. To be able to make enough beer to sell on site and be a restaurant and brewery, we far exceeded the capacity of this space that we thought we could do here. So in the long run we find bigger spaces.

That being said, the new location, whose address has not yet been announcedwill be closed for the summer while the crew prepares the space for brewing, eating, drinking and having a good time.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks as Ten55 Brewing finalizes the new location, which will also be a Ten55 Brewing-branded restaurant.

What’s next for the 110 E. Congress space?

Wondering what’s moving downtown?

Well, you’ll just have to wait a little longer for those details, but Squires and the team are working with another restaurateur, who plans to take over the space and launch an exciting new concept.

Ten55 Brewing Company is located at 110 E. Congress St. (until Sunday, May 29), and keep an eye out for when they announce the new location. For more information, visit 1055brewing.com.
